Hockenheim, 21st October 2012. Once again Roberto Merhi saw something unexpected happening when he was doing a great recovery drive that was bringing him within sight of the points. Today the Spaniard finished the last race of the 2012 DTM in fifteenth place.

This position doesn't reflect the real pace of the Mercedes-Benz driver who, at mid race, was up to twelfth, just two spots behind the points scoring positions after recovering six places from his starting spot. Sadly Roberto had to make a third pit stop instead of the two initially planned, and this meant he lost ground, falling to the fifteenth place, totally out of the battle for the points.

Now begins a rest period for the Spaniard before starting to prepare for 2013 with renewed hopes and his sight set on improving the results of his maiden season.

Roberto Merhi: “Congratulations to Bruno Spengler and BMW for winning the title. Gary and Bruno have been the stars of this last race, a very exciting duel that wasn't decided until the very last lap. Sadly my race was far more chaotic. I'd have liked to close my first season in the DTM with one or two points on my score but it wasn't to be. It has been quite an intense year and, doing a summary of it, I think mainly about all that I've learnt. Now it is already time to think about next season.”
